Those of you who follow the adventures of Danny George Wilson on Twitter, may already have picked up on the ripples of excitement and studio action of late. We’re very pleased to report that Danny & The Champions of The World have been working away at Reservoir Studios, North London putting together their follow up to 2011′s Hearts & Arrows.
Danny revealed that “a few friends old and new have popped in to join in too”. We can’t wait to hear it!
Expect to hear old songs, new songs and, if you ask very nicely, maybe even some classic Grand Drive type stuff? Who knows. Although, pint-like bribes will surely be welcomed.
Last Friday afternoon the fine folks behind Cornbury Festival arranged for Danny & The Champions Of The World to take to a makeshift stage at London’s Marylebone station for “Cornbury Tracks“. Here’s a video of Danny & Rosalie treating the rush hour commuters to acoustic renditions of Henry The Van & Loose favourite, Old Soul.
You do know it’s Record Store Day this Saturday? We hope you’ll all be heading down to your local record shops and joining in with the celebrations. Find a guide to nationwide in-store goings-on here. We’d tell you to “show your support”, but a better way of doing that would probably be to keep on going back to visit on any of the other 364 days in a year that aren’t Record Store Day. Don’t let Sean put you off.
Although Loose won’t be adding to the exciting list of exclusive releases this year, we will be sending Danny & The Champs off to visit two of our favourite record shops – Diverse Music in Newport and Badlands in Cheltenham. Marvel at these beautiful posters they created especially.
The Champs are due to put in an appearance amongst the shelves of vinyl at Diverse at around about lunchtime. The Badlands show is a full on evening affair at Subtone, for which tickets are available here.
Danny and the Champs will be playing in-store at Diverse Music in Newport on the afternoon of Saturday 21st April, for what is guaranteed to be an extra specially intimate Record Store Day performance. We also hear there will be drinks and nibbles which can only add to the incentive to get yourselves down there. [...]
